Fix Our Streets
Half-cent sales tax for infrastructure improvements. Although Heartland Visioning does not take credit for passage of the tax for street improvements, the tax does fit in well with a number of goals in the Strategic Plan, from Infrastructure to Economic Development. The alliance involved in this strategy is the Committee to Fix Our Streets.

Topeka streets that carry the greatest volume of traffic i.e. 21st./wana. west near the mall, should have repairs in order to encourage people to shop at our mall (not in Manhattan or KC.) There is an area in the west bound lane (near the mall) that what was once a pothole, is now completely across the lane. It appears it would be far more cost effective to repair the other 52 near by potholes before then become this bad, while the trucks and manpower is in the area. Your committee may be the best in the state but someone needs to address these problems - they are not that hard to solve. Perhaps a "contact us" on your home page would be of benefit in identifying other Topeka issues.
